Volunteers

The Historical Society is always looking for volunteers to serve in a number of ways and we try to make use of each person’s individual skills. Our most pressing need is for people to serve as docents or receptionists, greeting visitors and sharing Tarpon Springs history with them.

We ask for a commitment of at least two hours a week. The Society provides training, a docent manual, and a written job description.

The need for volunteers who serve on a regular basis has increased in recent years.  We need docent/receptionists to work with the public each week in order to have all galleries of the Depot open Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you might like to consider assisting us in this way, call us: 727.937.8997, email: tarpon.historical@verizon.net or fill out the volunteer application in person during our open hours. We would be happy to discuss this vital volunteer opportunity with you.

The Society will also need new volunteers to work on projects and tasks involved in operating a historical society. Opportunities exist in the Archives, in oral history projects, working on special events, as well as a number of other areas.  Let us know how you would like to help. We have a job suited to every potential volunteer! Please call 727.937.8997 for more information, or click here to fill out a volunteer registration form to mail to us, or bring into the museum. We would love to meet you!
